Not long ago, I discovered something simple but powerful: tracking my macros daily. I’ll admit that I sometimes didn’t feel like doing it. But over time, the results stacked up. Not because my diet was perfect, but because I stayed consistent.

I Started Tracking

The same thing happened when I got serious about content. I made the decision that I wouldn’t miss a Monday. Every week, no matter what, this newsletter would land in your inbox. And the reason I’ve been able to keep that streak alive isn’t some complicated system. It is the opposite. I built a simple, repeatable process.

An Exercise in Ego

Chasing complexity often looks like progress, but it can really be ego in disguise.

It is the pursuit of doing more, achieving more, and proving more. But when you strip things down to the essentials and just do the work, the wins start compounding.

Research backs this up. “It’s estimated that 70% of all change initiatives fail,” as Thomas Pocock, Ryan Polk, and Ryan Tandler noted in Harvard Business Review earlier this year. In their analysis, only 14% of CFOs said none of their transformation projects failed in the past two years.

A 2023 survey of logistics leaders showed similar results: Only 24% of transformations were considered successful. Overcomplication kills momentum. Simplicity fuels it.

So, here’s my challenge for you:

How will you dominate and win this week? What complexities can you simplify? What system, however small, can you commit to consistently?

Because in the long run, consistency beats complexity. Every time.
