Welcome to Remarkable Monday. This is our corner of the internet where we get the inspiration and insights to crush our content goals for the week ahead. Make yourself at home and feel free to hit reply if you want to get in contact with me, your host. I’m Mark Patterson, and my hope for you this week is that you make it remarkable!
As a creator, it can be so hard to stay inspired. We have to keep up with so much: ideating, writing, recording, editing, publishing, metrics, pitching—the list goes on!
But if we zoom out, we can see the throughline that binds all of this effort together. It's our story! Stories bridge the gap between us and the audiences we serve.
I recently sat in on a virtual workshop from the communications team at Starbucks, and Jennifer Warnick, director of creative communications for the coffee giant, dropped a bomb on me:
“Content unto others as you would have them content unto you.”
If you yourself would not stop to enjoy what you are creating/putting out into the world, why should anyone else? If you wouldn’t pause to consume it, it should give you pause.
That being said, sometimes you need to be inspired by incredible work. Seeing other standout creators can help you level up so you too can stop the scroll. Here are some creators that have been inspiring me lately:
Joel Roache - Instagram: @joelroac
Joel’s IG is a masterclass in visual storytelling. In a standout partnership with Samsung, he seamlessly blended culturally relevant commentary about matcha with a technical breakdown of aspect ratios. His ability to connect disparate ideas into a cohesive narrative is precisely why you should follow him to elevate your creative perspective.
Nick Castle - Instagram: @nickcastlecreates
I stumbled on Nick’s content nearly a year ago via the algorithm, and I quickly gained respect for his transparency. By documenting his life as a creator, full-time employee, and pastor, he proves that a viable business model doesn't have to consume your entire life. Follow him for a masterclass in balancing a high-output side hustle with personal well-being.
Alex Petrakieva - Instagram: @alex.petrakieva
With 500,000 followers, Alex’s journey is a blueprint for strategic growth. She began by sharing her journey to debt freedom, which led to a six-figure digital product. She has since broadened her content to cover finance and lifestyle. She is an essential follow for any creator looking to learn how to pivot effectively and monetize a personal brand.
Bonsa Nemera - Instagram: @bonsanemera
Bonsa, a dentist turned content creator, excels at maximizing the impact of a micro-following. Despite having fewer than 100,000 followers, he secures impressive brand deals and provides actionable strategy "breadcrumbs" for his audience. Follow him to learn how to turn a niche community into a powerful, professional platform.
Melanie Renee - Instagram: @melanierrenee
Melanie’s appeal lies in her "build in public" approach. She documented her journey to 10,000 followers with high stakes, revealing the playbook for earning a full-time income through creation. Her storytelling style and insights into building a signature series that converts make her a vital resource for emerging creators.
Layton - Instagram: @layton_video
Bridging the gap between amateur and pro, Layton is the coach I didn’t know I needed until the algorithm intervened. Based in New Zealand but possessing worldwide appeal, he offers practical tutorials on vlogging, solo filming, and hook breakdowns. Follow him for clear, actionable steps to fill your knowledge gaps and refine your technical execution.
Weekly Playbook
#1: Identify the One Thing
Zero in on one area of your content workflow you want to improve this week. Find someone who can help you, whether they are on the list I shared or someone you find on your own. Remember, we’re focusing on one thing, such as writing a better hook or refining the script to your signature series.
#2: Remind Yourself of Why You’re Worth Following
So many creative ruts stem from a crisis of identity. When we forget who we are, the One who called us, or our unfair advantage, what we produce gets stale. Repeat and complete this sentence to help reset that negative self-talk: At my core, my purpose is to help people…[this is why you are worth following].
